A flow-rate bucket test can help determine how efficient the taps and shower heads are within your home.
Taps and showerheads with a three-star rating or better under the Water Efficiency Labeling and Standards (WELS) scheme have a flow-rate of nine litres or less per minute. Conducting a flow-rate bucket test can help in determining if you have water efficient taps and showerheads in your home.
To conduct the flow-rate bucket test:
- Position a 10 litre bucket under the tap or showerhead
- Start a timer and filling the bucket at the same time
- Time how long it takes to fill the bucket.
If it takes less than one minute to fill the bucket, it's likely you do not have a water efficient showerhead.
The longer it takes to fill the bucket, the more efferent your tap or showerhead
