Dealing with the loss and managing a deceased estate is difficult enough. When you notify us about the loss of a family member or friend, our team will be able to assist you in managing their account.
You will need to decide what you would like to do with the account(s) of the deceased. Some of the options you will need to consider are:
Are you authorised to request account changes, are you listed as an authorised contact on the account, Power of Attorney or the executor of the will?
- Would you like the account closed?
- Who is responsible for any outstanding financial amounts owing on the account?
- Are there any direct debit arrangements that need to be amended?
- If a lawyer or third party is managing the estate, please ask them to contact us or provide us with their contact details
Altogether will be requesting documentation for the Executor or Power of Attorney. Please ensure you have the correct documents to send through to us in order for us to assist with making changes on the account.
ADD OR UPDATE AUTHORISED CONTACT
To add, change or update an account holder or authorised contact, you will need to get in touch with us.
- Call us on 1300 806 806 (authorised electricity retailer) or 1300 803 803 (supplied electricity on behalf of your body corporate)
- Submit an online enquiry at: Inquiry Contact Form
We will ask for a few details, including:
- Your full name
- Phone number
- Email address
- Relationship to account holder (to authorise changes you must be an authorised on the account)
- Power of Attorney or the executor of the will)
- Address (if the property is now vacant/a final is required)
- Account number
CANCELLING THE SERVICE
Should you no longer require the service at the property, we can arrange to have the account closed.
You can complete a ‘move out’ request at: Move Out Form | Altogether Group
Please provide us with final details for the account to be closed accordingly.
If the property is to be transferred to a beneficiary, the new owner will need to set up a new account: Move In Form | Altogether Group
KEEP A TEMPORARY SUPPLY
Before closing an account, we can help in maintaining a supply to the property. To do this, we will need to confirm the following:
- Details of Executors
- Details of new postal address (of the person responsible for receiving the invoices)
